Through the Port of San Antonio’s
infrastructure we are in the process of developing multimodal
logistics for international & domestic corporations alike. This
infrastructure includes an industrial airport, foreign trade zone,
rail linkage to major seaports & distribution centers and the
convergence of major interstate highways that stretch throughout the
NAFTA marketplace.
The Authority is energetically involved
in the development and marketing of new multimodal trade corridors,
such as the recently inaugurated lane linking Asia and South America
to San Antonio over the Ports of Lázaro Cárdenas, México &
Laredo, TX. The cargoes recently received were the very first into
the interior of the United States using this system. This service is
multimodalism at its finest providing time and cost savings to
shippers and receivers alike. This alternative route is saving
shipper’s time in comparison to using the west coast ports of the
U.S. The Authority is becoming a leader in regional multimodal
logistics as well, working closely with the Port of Corpus Christi
in the development of similar services.
